How it works

1. Choose preferred cask type
Ex-bourbon, sherry or something else entirely? It is your choice.

2. Select number of shares
One share = 6 bottles of 70 cl

3. Maturation and storage
Whisky needs time to develop and mature. In our cask storage at Fedje Mek. our whisky is well looked after by our Master Blender. We follow the maturation closely and bottle when the whisky is ready.

4. Bottling
When bottling, the alcohol strength is reduced to 50% alchohol by volume.

5. Ordering bottles
When the whisky is bottled, it is delivered to you through the wine monopoly of Norway. We give you all the necessary information well in advance of delivery. The price per bottle at pick-up will be approx. NOK 650 depending on the applicable taxes of the wine monopoly.

Cask maturation

How much does the type of cask affect the end result?

In order for spirit to be called whisky it must mature in casks. For whisky produced in Europe the minimum is three years, while the requirement for cask types and duration may vary in other whisky producing countries. Most whisky producers mature their whisky in one type of cask for the entire duration, while others may choose cask finishing to add a specific flavour profile.

To make high quality whisky a good brewer and distiller is needed. The quality level of the new make spirit s is absolutely crucial. Later, the choice of cask and the casks' previous contents will further influence. At Feddie, we mostly use American oak, and to a smaller extent European oak. The vast majority of casks have previously contained American bourbon or Spanish sherry.
